How many of you who are reading this, have actually had a conversation with a millionaire? How many of you have paid out good money, just to go and listen to a millionaire as he or she reveals how they started out in life, and from poverty built great wealth? How many of you reading this have found a millionaire to be your mentor?
Well, I can answer yes to all those questions – can you?
The most important lesson I have learned is that success leads a trail. You won’t find it in any forum where failed marketers go and complain about the latest scam or promise that was “broken” or in circles where others go to complain about the latest programme or project that didn’t work… Hey, I’ve been there, shared thoughts with some of the people there and do you know what it taught me? If I surrounded myself with people who have had negative experiences, I tended to get into the same mindset.
Mindset – now there’s a fascinating word! Mindset – what does it mean for you?
I can tell you what happened for me, to change my mindset… I went to a seminar and for the first time heard a guy called Pat Mesiti on the stage. He just blew me away! As I listened, riveted to his life story and the fact that he survived childhood against all odds, to become a self made millionaire and life coach, the penny dropped… I suddenly realised why it was that I had spent more than I had earned trying to market online!
Then I went and listened to others, live at whatever seminar I could find. I even bought back issue DVDs of seminars I had missed, just to listen to the mindset of these millionaires.
I learned that success leaves a trail. BUT, and it is a big big BUT, unless you immerse yourself on that trail, you are oh so easily side-tracked, go around in circles and find yourself back at those same forums again… You can’t play at being a millionaire – you have to do what they do every day, and I mean every day. Immerse yourself in all they have to say. Watch their DVDs again and again. Listen, make notes and more notes.
As Pat Mesiti says “Shift this” (pointing to his head) “Touch This” (pointing to his heart) “Feel This” (first two fingers and thumb making the age old gesture of money received).
Here are a few quotations that I have pinned up on my noticeboard and other places where I’ll see them (you got it) every day:
“If I want to be free, I’ve got to be me; the main thing is keep the main thing the main thing” (Bob Proctor) “One life – it’s about lifestyle – how are you going to spend it?” (BP)
“When some people’s hearts stop beating, it is just a formality and they didn’t even know it” Earl Nightingale) “if most people said they were thinking, they would be speechless”
“If you want to learn to fly a plane, you don’t go to your dentist” (BP)
“There is a difference between WISHING for a thing and being READY to receive it. No-one is ready for a thing, until they believe they can acquire it. The state of mind must be BELIEF, not mere hope or wish. Open-mindedness is essential for belief. Closed minds do not inspire faith, courage or belief. Remember, no more effort is required to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity, than is required to accept misery and poverty”. (Napoleon Hill – Think And Grow Rich)
They remind me to:
- Demand RICHES in specific terms
- HAVE specific plans for acquiring riches
- ENGAGE yourself in carrying out your plan
- GIVE the equivalent in service to the value of those riches you have demanded
“We think in frequencies – thought is energy – penetrating time and space – make a decision and you raise yourself to the right level and the “how” automatically follows” BP
“In times of change the learners will inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists” Eric Hoffer
What is the primary cause of my results? Why is there such a huge difference in the results that people sometimes experience in life? What is holding most people back?
The answer is “paradigms”
“To ignore the power of paradigms to influence your judgement is to put yourself at risk when exploring the future” Joel Barker author of ‘paradigms’
“there is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving and that is yourself” Aldus Huxley
I have a lot more, but there wouldn’t be room in this small article to write them all down. And maybe they are not what hits a chord in you. But, if you find some words that inspire them, type them out, cut them out, stick them where you will see them every day. The thing is, in order to change, we have to remind ourselves every day why we want to change – these snippets help to remind us that we have now set our goals higher than before and that we have the will to do it.
When Kennedy asked: “What will it take to go to the moon, land a man and return him safely to earth again?” Dr Werner Von Braun replied in 5 simple words: “The will to do it!”
You know what your car looks like… you know what your house looks like, you know what your face looks like… Now it’s time to DISCOVER what your mind looks like! Paradigms are the programmes running on autopilot in our lives – they are our belief systems that were created from even before we are born! We are conditioned to think about money, about success, about having a good job, exchanging hours for dollars all the time we grow up and even more so as an adult when we act out our routines that actually reinforce those belief patterns: “see, I knew this wouldn’t work… if it’s too good to be true then it probably is”.
Guess what? Those millionaires don’t have the same self-talk! They have “Shifted This!” as Pat Mesiti would say. So, “Don’t be an extra in your own movie!” as Bob Proctor would say.
My advice? If you have been having problems marketing online, first get yourself some self-improvement DVDs, guides or better still, a mentor of your own – a life coach. Then watch the miracles happen as marketing suddenly becomes easy, because at last, you are listening to someone who has been there and done it, and following a marketing business system that works. Everything begins to fall into place.
Know what? 90% of people who try to make money online start from the wrong place. I’m reminded of the reply from an Irishman when I asked him for directions to somewhere – “Well, I wouldn’t start from here”. Believe it or not, 90% of those starting out, really do get lost before they know where they are going! Then wonder why they are lost and start blaming everyone but themself. 90% start out by trying to find a product, or, see a product or system advertised, get drawn in to the sales letter, and say to themselves, yes, this will sell easily…
Oops… wrong! First, find a hungry market – get to know that market, find out what there problems are. THEN find a product that will be the solution to their problem. Never try to sell something you think they NEED – sell them what they WANT. There is a big diference here. If you’re not sure what it is, go back to what I was saying and find a mentor who will explain the difference and show you that it is your own belief system, those paradigms, that actually set you off on the wrong trail to start with.
Going back to Million Dollar Minds… immerse yourself in them – feel what it is like to have their mindset. Do this every day and I guarantee you that you will follow them all the way to the top!
“Most people think that getting an education is expensive – it’s not – IGNORANCE is expensive – education is an investment” (BP)
“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal” Earl Nightingale – “ask yourself, is the goal worthy of me, not the other way around.”
“If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much room” (BP)
Know where you are going and know that you will get there, then take the first step and the rest will follow – all you need is the will to do it!
